SPECIAL ELECTION FOR HOG HAMMOCK ZONING ISSUE

EARLY VOTING WILL BEING ON DECEMBER 29, 2025 

THRU JANUARY 16, 2026 FROM 8AM TO 5PM.  

WE WILL BE CLOSED ON JANUARY 1, 2026 FOR NEW YEARS DAY.

Saturday voting will be January 3, and January 10^th, 2026 from 9am to 5 pm.

Last day to request and be mailed out a ballot is January 9, 2026.

All polling precincts will be open on January 20^th from 7am to 7pm.

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in McIntosh County for the purpose of submitting to the voters the following question for the approval or rejection; "Shall the action of the Board of Commissioners of McIntosh County, Georgia, amending the McIntosh County Code of Ordinances Appendix C sec. 219 HH Hog Hammock District of the McIntosh County Ordinance be repealed?"

This special election will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2026.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the Special Election may register to vote through the close of business on Monday December 22, 2025.

Early/Advance voting will be held December 29, 2025 thru January 16, 2026, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Saturday voting will be on January 3, 2026 and January 10, 2026 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

All polls will be open on Tuesday January 20, 2026 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

2025 ELECTION CALENDAR

MUNICIPAL GENERAL / SPECIAL ELECTION – PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSONER (PSC) & Transportation SPLOST

 Voter Registration Deadline – October 6, 2025 (last day to register to vote for the November 4^th Election).

Advance/early voting will begin on Tuesday October 14, 2025 thru October 31, 2025, from 8am to 5pm. at the Election Office.  

 Mandatory Saturday Voting:

October 18^th & October 25, 2025 from 9am to 5pm.

DEADLINE TO RECEIVED AND MAIL OUT ABSENTEE BALLOT IS OCTOBER 24, 2025

Election Day – November 4, 2025

All Polls will open at 7am to 7pm

Possible of a Municipal Run-off:  Tuesday December 2, 2025

McIntosh County Board of Elections and Registration will be conducting the Risk Limiting Audit on the Special Election for Public Service Commission that was held on June 17, 2025. The Audit will take place in the election office on Thursday June 26, 2025 at 9:00 am. The public is welcome to come and observe.

POLL LOCATIONS:

The City of Darien Voting Precinct and District 1 is at The Darien Fire Station located at 700 Northway St., Darien Georgia.

District 2 Voting Precinct is located at The Darien Church of God Gym,1140 Blounts Crossing Road SE, Darien Georgia. 

District 3 Voting Precinct is located at the Crescent Fire Station, 1127 Old Trail Rd. NE, Townsend Georgia. Also district 3 is on Sapelo Island located at the Sapelo Senior Center, Sapelo Island.

District 4 Voting Precinct is located at the Shellman Bluff Fire Station,6572 Shellman Bluff Road NE, Townsend Georgia.
